I enjoy Kickstarter. It’s great to see the innovations that appear from new companies looking to get themselves out into the market. I’ve invested in a number of products over the years, many of them photography related, and ultimately they have all been successful. Not perfect, but they delivered what the promise.
Prenote A mate and fellow photographer, Greg Cromie, offered help me get some photos as obviously it was hard for me to get photos of myself wearing the bag. A big thank you to Greg for taking the photos of me, you can follow him on WordPress. He has some great articles and regularly posts […]
Introduction It’s been great to see TTL and wireless TTL appear more commercially with Fujifilm, particularly with the access to gear from the strobe manufacturers like Godox and Profoto. This has really opened the door to flash usage with Fujifilm, and brands like Godox have made it affordable for people to experiment with flash. Although […]
I’ve known for some time that I’m doing it all wrong on Instagram. You may or may not know this, but apparently the secret to Instagram success is through focussing on specific genres and separating your accounts to accommodate this.
These aren’t typical shots I would shoot at high ISO and this wasn’t a planned test. I pulled out my camera for a couple of product shots of the X100F and I must have bumped my ISO to 25600. The First shot was well overexposed, largely because when using an AD600 Pro, the minimum power […]
It may seem like a bad thing to say, but it’s the truth, and I think it’s time to be honest about it. The X100 series is not the best Point & Shoot (P&S) on the market. It never was. Part of the challenge with the X100 series is the appeal. It’s built a reputation […]
When a popular Youtuber starts sending you abusive emails…not just insults, but the kind of emails that insult mentally handicapped people, you would expect youtube to take this seriously? Apparently not. Youtube doesn’t respond to complaints. You can log them, just don’t expect to get an answer.
I’m an Apple user so I walked into a retail store today as I felt it was time to switch from my Macbook Pro to an iMac. The challenge? Apparently no-one at Apple thought that any customer would want any machine above base spec in their store, and base spec is pretty damn dismal. You […]
The problem There are not a lot of things that bug me about my Fujifilm cameras, but auto ISO is one of them. How they have not fixed this is a mystery so I am going to go on a rant here. The issue? How exposure lock, or lack there of interact with ISO and […]
This is the square hood from squarehood.se for the X70 and X100 which is a plastic hood available to purchase online. Really like the size of it, and the style of hood which is similar to the XF16mm and XF23mm style hood which I prefer over the Haoge style after market hoods for the X100. […]
